![]() you go to the bottom of practically ANY commercial/industrial light tower and you'll find a Kubota 3 cyl diesel.Īnyway, Kubota also makes higher output 1800rpm gensets as well.īut 5K hours in a real meltdown isn't alot of time. ![]() There is a reason that Bobcat and so forth use Kubota 3 cyl diesel engines in their machinery they work. to put that in context, imagine driving an average of 40MPH for 10000 hours that's 400K miles.ġ0000 hours is about 14 months of 24x7 full output operation, less a bit of time off for oil changes and PM. Those 3 cylinder Kubota engines have about 20 years of operational data to draw on they will easily go 5000 hours and it is not unusual to see 10000 hours on some. ![]() I think those are 3600 rpm which seems to be frowned upon as far as longevity goes If you want long term reliability combined with forever parts availability, buy a Kubota "Lowboy" generator set there are like 87 million in service and they work. Seems like a low rpm one lunger diesel with a huge flywheelĪlso you need a hefty gearbox to get the generator head to spin at 1800 rpm (4 pole) or 3600 rpm (2 pole).
